IRVINE, Calif., Oct 04, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that World of Warcraft(R): Cataclysm(TM), the highly anticipated third expansion for the world's most popular subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game*, will be released starting on December 7, 2010. The expansion will be available on DVD-ROM for Windows(R) XP/Windows Vista(R)/Windows(R) 7 and Macintosh(R) at a suggested retail price of $39.99 and will also be offered as a digital download from the Blizzard Store. A special Collector's Edition packed with bonus items will be available exclusively in retail stores for a suggested retail price of $79.99.

"Cataclysm includes the best content we've ever created for World of Warcraft. It's not just an expansion, but a re-creation of much of the original Azeroth, complete with epic new high-level adventures for current players and a redesigned leveling experience for those just starting out," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "With the help of our beta testers, we're putting on the final polish, and we look forward to welcoming gamers around the world to enjoy it in just a couple of months."

The first two World of Warcraft expansions, The Burning Crusade(R) and Wrath of the Lich King(R), each shattered PC game sales records upon their release.* In Cataclysm, the face of Azeroth will be forever altered by the return of the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing. Players will explore once-familiar areas of the world that have now been reshaped by the devastation and filled with new adventures. In an effort to survive the planet-shattering cataclysm, two new playable races — worgen and goblins — will join the struggle between the Alliance and the Horde. As players journey to the new level cap of 85, they'll discover newly revealed locations, acquire new levels of power, and come face to face with Deathwing in a battle to determine the fate of the world.

Mage t10 and more!

I haven't felt there is much to update about lately, but I thought I would make an Icecrown post!

Read and listened to new soundfiles today (you can look at them here- warning, spoilers!), very very intrigued! As you may not know, I am a huge lore nerd. I certainly don't know everything, but I love reading the books and immersing myself in it. I find that lore really enhances the game, and you may not know until you've read a book and then replayed an encounter which involves characters from said books.
Here, an example from my own experience: My guild was raiding Hyjal. It was just a raid, with a bunch of horribly tedious AE waves stuff and a chick, and then I read Cycle of Hatred. After that, the raid and Jaina were more than just a pile of pixels to me, they became something more interesting.
Anyways, on to the goodies! =D
Look at this delicious Mage T10. It is delicious.
I'm going to have to say that my favourite scheme are the top and the bottom colours. Fantastic! I'm really loving the wrestling-style belts they started putting in during ToC, and the helm is pretty BA.
Now, I won't begin to even touch the mage changes yet (next post maybe? =o). It would seem that they are attempting to make all three specs somewhat equally viable for raiding. I'm sure though that there will always be a superior spec (or two, with dual spec for certain encounters).
Mage T10 set bonuses:

Mage
  • 2 Pieces: Your Hot Streak, Missile Barrage, and Brain Freeze talents also grant you 12% haste for 5 seconds when the effect of the talent is consumed.
  • 4 Pieces: Your Mirror Image ability also causes you to deal 18% additional damage for 30 seconds.

The 2 piece set bonus is great. 12% is a fair amount of haste. What I am interested in is if there in an internal CD on the 2 piece haste proc, or if (depending on your HS, MBarr, or BF procs of course) it would be a very steady amount of (almost) straight haste.
I like the 4 piece also, 30s is a great duration, and 18% more damage is always nice. Basically it means 18% more damage every 2.5 minutes if you're in an encounter where you're able to pop it every time the CD is up.

In other news, want.
